About Odd Almanac
Odd Almanac collects unusual websites, art, science and reported experiences, with sources and clear attribution. Inclusion records a subject or account; it does not establish extraordinary claims. The collection is curated by Johnny Venables / Z13.
Visitor measurement
The public site uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page views and estimated visitors, helping us understand which articles people find useful. We do not send custom events. Our analytics filter removes every query string and fragment from the page URL before sending it, so search terms in those parts of the URL are excluded.
Vercel describes its measurement as cookie-free, using a hash derived from the incoming request and discarding the visitor session after 24 hours. Reports may include referrer, approximate location, browser and device information. A weekly visitor total is an estimate, not a count of distinct people across that week. Hosting requests are still handled by Vercel.
Our analytics script does not load when your browser sends Do Not Track (DNT=1) or Global Privacy Control. It also respects a browser-local va-disable setting of true or 1. Measurement runs only on the canonical public site, not local copies or preview deployments. Read Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation ↗.
